Guess who is coming to Bonn this week on Friday 01.12.23 for FCB #141 ?

 The magical, mystical Mr Simon Kempston!

It's a chance for you to participate in some genuine modern folklore in which both Simon and Bonn folk club play a pivotal part. Simon will not be appearing for his second time, but his twelfth time!

What an amazing achievement Simon, and looking forward to the next twelve coming up!.

Dear Folk Club friends,

next Friday, 01 December 2023 there will be the 141st edition of the Folk Club.

As has been the case for many years, our special guest, the virtuoso guitarist and singer Simon Kempston from Edinburgh, will be coming to the December Folk Club. Simon originally trained as a classical guitarist, but now has an impressive CV as a captivating and biting singer-songwriter. As every year, Simon has new songs and a new CD in his luggage Moonrise over Mostar - Christmas is just around the corner and there are many stockings which need filling!

There will also be performances by various local artists. The theme of the evening is: "Dreaming and wishing". Let yourself be surprised and enjoy the evening!

Here again the most important dates to save:

For those of you who wish to know more about the fascinating Simon Kempston here is an interview which John Hurd of 3Songs Bonn once conducted with Simon;

Read all about it here:

https://3songsbonn.com/2020/12/20/simon-kempston-interview/

Most of this may be known to the most studious amongst you but one can always glean something new, even if its the fact that yes he is Scottish, born in Dundee and living in Edinburgh, but YES he did once actually appear and perform in a kilt!

We all have imaginations. thank goodness, and while Simon was describing the size of a fish that he's allegedly angled it turned out it was a salmon that he merely tickled out of the Wester Ross salmon fishery farm in Loch Broom! Did he perhaps smuggle the contraband salmon out under his kilt we wonder?

Simon doing a Tommy Cooper impression, "just like that, Just like that!" (I told you he was magical!!!)

So if you don't wish to miss a wonderful evening I recommend that you come early to wine and dine in comfort and secure a ringside seat for Simon. (If you could get any closer to the stage, you would actually be on it!)
