John Hurd of 3SongsBonn recently dis an interview with Simon Kempston who has been coming to the folk club in Bonn each year in December as a "special guest" for as long as anyone can remember. Except in December 2020 when we could not host him due to COVID-19 lockdown restrictions. By way of compensation we managed to get Simon Kempston a gig in Bad Godesberg in the row of six outdoor live music concerts which will be taking place under the old cedar tree outside of the Kleines Theater in July and August. These concerts have been organised by KuKuG Kunst & Kultur Bad Godesberge e.V. (The Association for Art and Culture in Bad Godesberg) in colaboration with the small theatre in Bad Godesberg. The proceeds from the concerts will be for the benefit of the performers and to help support the theatre. If you ask any professional musicianhow bas 2020 was they will tell you the worst year they can ever remember, apart perhaps from this year in 2021, but that is still a disaster in progress, and although it is already half over, things are indeed beginning to look somewhat rosier. Simon will be heading the bill on Monday evening 02.08.2021 at 19:30 hrs under the heading "Live in Europe from the British Isles" featuring music from the west of the European mainland and to the east of the Azores. Simon who was born and raised in Dundee and now resides in Edinburgh as was a regular touring troubadour and singer/songwriter throughout Europe and the world before COVID-19 struck with a vengence in 2020. Shay McVeigh was born and raised in Belfast in Northern Ireland and certainly knows what "Troubles" are. John Harrison was born and raised in Burton-upon-Trent in England, famous for its five breweries and the five roads leading out of town and now like Shay lives in the beautiful city of Bonn. Do come along and say hello to Simon and the rest of us on Monday evening 02.08.2021 https://3songsbonn.com/2020/12/20/simon-kempston-interview/
