Folk-Club-Bonn

Dear Folk Club friends,

The 155th edition of the Folk Club is coming up next Friday, 07 March 2025.

This time there will be a Singers' Night, which means there will be no featured artists. However, the variety and mix of local and international artists, which is our hallmark, will remain.

The theme of the evening is ‘Waldzither’.

The forest zither is a plucked instrument from the box lute family that first appeared in Thuringia around 1900 and is strung with nine strings. The instrument also has ‘relatives’ in other countries, including the Irish bouzouki. The forest zither was introduced to the Folk Club by our now deceased co-organiser Steve Perry. We are dedicating the evening to this instrument (and therefore also to Steve). Several artists have signed up to play pieces on it.

Here is a summary of the most important dates:

Date: 07 March 2025

Start: 7.00 pm until probably 10.00 pm. The hall is open from 5.00 pm and offers the opportunity to have a cosy meal and drink before the concert. If you arrive early, you can also sit in the front row.

Venue: Dotty's Sports Bar and Restaurant (public clubhouse of the Bonn Tennis and Hockey Club - BTHV), Christian-Miesen-Straße, 53129 Bonn (Dottendorf)

As always, admission is free and as always, please do feel empowered to buy the performers which have pleased you a drink, as what is not expressly forbidden is indeed allowed.

And one more thing:

If you cannot get enough of folk music, you have the opportunity to listen to the group ‘Fomiander’, who will also be performing at the Folk Club, on Thursday, 06 March 2025 at the venue Kater 26, Römerstraße 26, 53111 Bonn. The ‘Kater’ will also be serving a well-crafted Pilsener Urquell and delicious Czech wines.              

Admission is free, there will be a hat collection for the artists.

 Liebe Folk-Club-Freunde,

am kommenden Freitag, den 07. März 2025 steht die 155. Ausgabe des Folk Clubs bevor.

Diesmal gibt es eine Singers‘ Night, das heißt, es treten keine Featured Artists auf. Es bleibt aber die Vielfalt und die Mischung aus lokalen und überregionalen Künstlern.

Der Abend steht unter dem Thema „Waldzither“.

Die Waldzither ist ein Zupfinstrument aus der Familie der Kastenlauten, das erstmals um 1900 in Thüringen aufkam und mit neun Saiten bespannt ist. Das Instrument hat auch „Verwandte“ in anderen Ländern, darunter die irische Bouzouki. Im Folk Club wurde die Waldzither von unserem inzwischen verstorbenen Mitorganisator Steve Perry eingeführt. Wir widmen den Abend diesem Instrument (und damit auch Steve). Mehrere Künstler sind angemeldet, die Stücke auch darauf spielen werden.

Beginn: 19.00 Uhr bis voraussichtlich 22.00 Uhr. Der Saal ist ab 17.00 Uhr geöffnet und bietet die Möglichkeit, vor dem Konzert gemütlich zu speisen und zu trinken. Wer früh kommt, kann zudem in der ersten Reihe sitzen.

Bitte nutzt für Eure Anmeldungen ausschließlich die Adresse playrequestfolkclubbonn AT gmail Punkt com (natürlich korrekt geschrieben mit @ und .). Bitte drückt nicht bei dieser Mail, die Ihr jetzt lest, nur auf „Antworten“. Eine solche Mail landet leider in einem Rattenschwanz an die Ursprungsmail angehängt und läuft größte Gefahr, übersehen zu werden. Das ist leider eine unangenehme Eigenschaft von Googlemail. Wer von Folkmusik nicht genug bekommen kann, der hat Gelegenheit, die Gruppe „Fomiander“, die auch im Folk Club auftreten wird, bereits am Donnerstag, den 06. März 2025 im Lokal Kater 26, Römerstraße 26, 53111 Bonn zu hören. Zudem gibt es im „Kater“ ein gepflegtes Pilsener Urquell und leckere tschechische Weine. Der Eintritt ist frei, es gibt eine Hutkollekte für die Künstler.
