Next Meet in March

(For English scroll down)

Liebe Leute! Liebe "Folkers!"

bis bald,

John Harrison & Barry L. Roshto et al.

( E N G L I S H )

Dear "Folkers!"

In February we held another very successful, and with well over 100 people, very well-attended evening with twelve different Acts, and with songs performed in four different languages. Unfortunately, the promised bagpipes were hindered by illness and injury from performing, but the "Bonn A Cappella Drums and Pipes Choir," sans both pipes and drums, were luckily there to save our bacon with a fascinating and humorous rendering of "Highland Cathedral" and "Scotland the Brave", the conductor's baton bearing an uncuncanny resemblence to a chop stick! Thanks again guys and gals!

Otherwise an evening with a very broad and colourful musical spectrum included songs by, among others, Johann Wolfgang von Goethe, John Clare, Robert Burns, Blind Boy Fuller, Buffy St. Marie, Mark Knopfler, Bruno Mars, Ne-yo, the Band and "The tallest man on Earth ", who happens to be Swedish, just to name a few.

This is certainly something much more than a "normal" English language folk club.

For those of you who were there (and there certainly were a lot of you), and for those of you who, wished you had been there, you can, thanks to Barry, see many images from February's birthday meeting on the blog.

In March, on Friday, 04.03.11 we are trying again with another "SINGERS' NIGHT", with "featured instruments." This time hopefully it will not be only virtual, but also with real "Pipes and Drums". We will not reveal more for the moment, but suffice to say that bagpipes are not only native to Scotland.
Since it takes place right in the middle of carnival, fancy dress/costumes are indeed allowed, but are not mandatory. :-)

Hoping to see you all again soon,

John Harrison & Barry L. Roshto et al.
