Notification of Steve's Death

 All Nature Has A Feeling

All nature has a feeling: woods, fields, brooks

Are life eternal: and in silence they

Speak happiness beyond the reach of books;

There's nothing mortal in them; their decay

Is the green life of change; to pass away

And come again in blooms revivified.

Its birth was heaven, eternal is its stay,

And with the sun and moon shall still abide

Beneath their day and night and heaven wide.

John Clare

1793-1864

Dear Folk Clubbers,

We announce with deep regret the death of Steve Perry after a protracted fight against leukemia. Steve joined the folk club in its very early formative days when it met in the backroom of the  Gastätte Zum Schützenhaus in Graurheindorf. Steve, wearing his Canadian hat, rather than his USA cap, introduced himself to me with, "We haven't met yet, but we do have something in common already, as we both share the same Queen". Steve has been a highly valued member of the folk club ever since and soon took on the rôle of head scheduler from myself and Barry and was instrumental in not only finding new artists for the folk club, especially in the Spanish- and Portuguese-speaking world but with the help of his wife Regine also making them feel very welcome in their home. Steve known affectionately as "Professor Curly hair" was also an enthusiastic player of a variety of stringed instruments, especially the viola caipira which he brought back from Brazil with him. He also loved singing and acting which he did in various choirs and the "Rock and Rollators", as well as at the folk club and indeed he often sang in Welsh, for no apparent reason apart from his love of all things Celtic. We shall all greatly miss his cordial presence at our folk club meetings.

Rest in peace, Steve,

your Folk Club.

 Even in the face of death

I am not afraid, for you are with me
