I hope that you have all landed safely in the May and have even seen your first swifts this year, as I have already done. The arrival of these amazing migratory birds with the same partners, and to the exact same European destination, at this time each year from sub-Saharan Africa, is truly one of nature's wonders and tells us that summer is indeed well and truly here to stay, with a shining vengeance.
One thing that we have started this year post C-19 in the folk club since David Lübke appeared with us in January is to have live music on the first Thursday of the month, prior to the Bonn Folk Club's first Friday event. This allows professional musicians passing through, who we put up privately for a few nights, to have an additional gig during their stay in Bonn. The audience in Bonn folk club is a wonderful listening audience in a totally unplugged live music atmosphere (I personally think 50% of the audience are musicians themselves, and the other half sing in choirs, which would also explain the phenomenal joining in with singing choruses!) As we neither charge admission nor receive any financial assistance whatsoever from anywhere we are most happy that our audience do support the performers by buying their CDs. We are also most grateful to Tana and the team at Kater 26 in Bonn for providing this first Thursdays gig. This month's featured artist the well-renowned guitar instrumentalist Franco Morone is only driving up from Italy on the same day and so thursday at Kater 26 will be played by the group HofJeBräu who played at the folk club in January.
So do come along on the Thursday evening to Kater 26 and enjoy a Pilsner Urquell on draught, the original from Plzeň, Czech Republic, not the imitation one from the USA!
You can listen to Franco Morone in the folk club as usual in Dotty's Bar in the BTHV on Friday evening, and the guitarists amongst you can also still participate in his workshop on the Friday afternoon at 14:00 hrs at the same address.

ich hoffe, dass Sie alle gut im Mai gelandet sind und sogar Ihre ersten Mauersegler in diesem Jahr gesehen haben, so wie ich es bereits getan habe. Die Ankunft dieser erstaunlichen Zugvögel mit denselben Partnern und mit genau demselben Ziel in Europa, jedes Jahr um diese Zeit aus Afrika südlich der Sahara, ist wirklich ein Wunder der Natur und zeigt uns, dass der Sommer in der Tat hier ist, um zu bleiben, mit einer strahlenden Wucht.
Eine Sache, die wir in diesem Jahr nach C-19 im Folkclub begonnen haben, seit David Lübke im Januar bei uns aufgetreten ist, ist die Live-Musik am ersten Donnerstag des Monats, vor der ersten Freitagsveranstaltung des Bonner Folkclubs. Dies ermöglicht professionellen Musikern auf der Durchreise, die wir für ein paar Nächte privat unterbringen, einen zusätzlichen Auftritt während ihres Aufenthalts in Bonn. Das Publikum im Bonn Folk Club ist ein wunderbares Zuhörpublikum in einer völlig unplugged Live-Musik-Atmosphäre (ich persönlich denke, dass 50% des Publikums selbst Musiker sind und die andere Hälfte in Chören singt, was auch das phänomenale Mitsingen in Refrains erklären würde). Da wir weder Eintritt verlangen noch von irgendwoher finanzielle Unterstützung erhalten, sind wir sehr froh, dass unser Publikum die Künstler durch den Kauf ihrer CDs unterstützt. Wir sind auch Tana und dem Team vom Kater 26 in Bonn sehr dankbar, dass sie uns diesen ersten Donnerstags-Gig ermöglichen. Da der renommierte Gitarren-Instrumentalist Franco Morone erst am selben Tag aus Italien anreist, wird der Donnerstag im Kater 26 von der Gruppe HofJeBräu bestritten, die bereits im Januar im Folk-Club gespielt hat. Kommen Sie also am Donnerstagabend in den Kater 26 und genießen Sie ein Pilsner Urquell vom Fass, das Original aus Pilsen, nicht das Imitat aus den USA!
Franco Morone können Sie im Folkclub wie gewohnt am Freitagabend in Dotty's Bar im BTHV hören, und die Gitarristen unter Ihnen können noch an seinem Workshop am Freitagnachmittag um 14:00 Uhr an derselben Adresse teilnehmen.
