Folk Club Bonn erwacht im JULI 02.07.21 wieder zum Leben!

Liebe Folk Clubbers, Ihr habt vielleicht dem Haupttext dieses Blogs und der RHS (rechte Seite) des Blogs entnommen, daß die Dinge definitiv in Bewegung sind, es gibt eine erkennbare Unterströmung im Boden unter den Bäumen und Gott sei Dank kommt die Live-Musik langsam, aber definitiv, wieder auf den Radar, um uns nach einer unerträglich langen Abwesenheit aufgrund der COVID-19 Einschränkungen zu begrüßen. Es gibt jetzt plötzlich wieder viel mehr Live-Musik im Freien zu hören. Mehr dazu lesen Sie in diesem Blog. In der Tat scheint sogar der Folk Club Bonn, nachdem er im April 2020 sein allerletztes "normales" Indoor-Treffen in Dotty's Bar hatte, wieder wie ein Phönix aus der Asche aufzusteigen. Wir hatten im September und Oktober letzten Jahres zwei FCB-Lite-Treffen draußen unterhalb von Dotty's Bar auf dem Hockeyplatz hinter dem BTHV Gebäude. Wettertechnisch, war es vielleicht ein bißchen spät in der Saison, um nach draußen zu gehen, und die Nächte zogen ein, aber hey! wir entdeckten, dass wir sogar Flutlicht hatten, als es dunkel wurde! In diesem Jahr denken wir dank der zuletzt stark gesunkenen Inzidenzrate bereits über ein Outdoor-Treffen am Freitagabend, den 02.07.02, um 19:30 Uhr nach, also komm ruhig vorbei um alte Erinnerungen zu erwäken, wie Live-Musik wieder einmal klingt. Die konnte ich am vergangenen Sonntagnachmittag beim Sommerfest im Arboretum Haus Carstanjan mit den Tree Guardians erleben. Ich muss gestehen, es war sehr inspirierend und höchst erbaulich. Das war letzten Sonntagnachmittag beim jährlichen Festival der Baumwächter im Arboretum neben Haus Carstanjen am Rhein in Plittersdorf. Vor COVID-19 wäre ich etwas skeptisch gewesen, eine solche Show ohne Zugang zum Stromnetz veranstalten zu können. Dank der guten Dienste von John Hay, der schon früh in der COVID-19-Krise in batteriebetriebene Verstärker investierte, war das, was letzten Sonntag passierte, glücklicherweise möglich. Vielen Dank dafür, John Hay, und das ermöglicht es dem Folk Club Bonn auch, weiterhin zu spielen und zu funktionieren, und zwar im Freien. Dies liegt in der Tat außerhalb der ursprünglichen Aufgabe des Folk Club Bonn als rein akustischer und unverstärktes Live-Musik-Indoor-Folk-Club. Wie der Wirtschaftswissenschaftler John Maynard Keynes einmal sagte: "Wenn sich die Fakten ändern, ändere ich meine Meinung." Nun scheint es so zu sein: "Aus der Not erwächst eine Chance!" Wir haben ein wenig Erfahrung gesammelt, unseren jeweiligen Beitrag geleistet, damit der Folk Club Bonn wieder auferstehen kann. Bitte kommen Sie am Freitag, den 21.07.02 um 19:30 Uhr wieder vorbei. Es wird Euch alle freuen zu erfahren, dass wir seit dem "Kniefall" von COVID-19 im April 2020 drei Folk-Club-Bonn-Treffen mit voller Nachvollziehbarkeit und unter Einhaltung aller Restriktionen abgehalten haben UND wir noch keinen Folk-Clubber an COVID-19 verloren haben und wir wollen diesen Rekord nicht ändern. Wenn Ihr mitkommt, respektiere bitte die räumliche Distanzierung und wenn Ihr sich mit einer Maske wohler fühlen, ist das auch in Ordnung. Wenn man gesundheitliche Vorbelastungen hat und noch NICHT vollständig geimpft ist, sollte man zu Ihrer eigenen Gesundheit überlegen, ob es besser ist nicht zu kommen. Wir halten das Risiko einer Aerosol-Übertragung im Freien für minimal, aber bedenken Sie, dass die Delta-4-Variante wahrscheinlich um 200% infektiöser ist als das ursprüngliche COVID-19-Virus, und dass die Delta-4-Variante Beine bekommt, es ist nur eine Frage der Zeit, nicht ob, sondern nur wann. Wir wünschen niemandem von Euch etwas Böses, aber wir wünschen Euch, daß es Euch gut geht und dass man sich wieder daran erinnert, wie man lächelt, zuhört und singt. "Räumliche Distanzierung" IST derzeit wichtig, aber "soziale Distanzierung" ist wirklich kein menschlicher Zustand, war es nie und wird es wirklich nie sein! Bleib also bitte ALLE in Sicherheit, und nur wenn man es verantworten kann, kommt vorbei und amüsiert Euch sich auf eine Art und Weise, wie es die Menschen seit Jahrzehnten oder Jahrhunderten oder Jahrtausenden tun, nach einer langen Woche der Arbeit, der Schufterei oder der Jagd, treffen Sie sich einfach mit Familie und Freunden an einem Freitagabend und kaue und denke wieder, denke über das Leben nach, trink ein oder zwei, höre mal eine wahre Geschichte oder zwei oder drei, hören und singe ein paar Lieder, und lächeln ein wenig öfter, als ,am es normalerweise während des Rests der Woche tut. Denn das ist es doch, was das "Leben" und ein "Folk-Club" an einem Freitagabend im Grunde genommen ausmacht. Willkommen zurück, und bitte genieße Euer neu gefundenen Freiheiten wieder in einer sicheren Umgebung. Vielleicht fangen wir sogar an, die vielen wunderbaren Dinge wieder zu schätzen, von denen wir gar nicht wußten, daß wir sie jemals wirklich hatten, bevor wir sie in letzter Zeit so oft sehr vermißt und betrauert haben.

Folk Club Bonn Reawakens IN JULY 02.07.21!

Dear Folk Clubbers, you may have gleaned from the main text of this Blog and from the RHS (right hand side) of the Blog, that things are definitely moving,there is a definite undercurrent in the soil beneath the trees and thank goodness live music is slowly, but definitely, coming back again on the radar to greet us after an unsufferably long absence due to COVID-19 restrictions. There is now suddenly much more live music on offer again outdoors. For more information read on this blog. Indeed, even Folk Club Bonn, after having its very last "normal" indoor meeting in Dotty's Bar indoors in April 2020 is looking to rise again like a phoenix from the ashes. We had two FCB Lite meetings outside below Dotty's Bar on the hockey pitch behind the building in both September and October last year. Weather-wise it was perhaps a little late in the season to go outdoors and the nights were drawing in, but hey! we discovered that we even had floodlights when it became dark! This year, thanks to the recent greatly reduced incidence rate we are already contemplating an outdoor meet on Friday evening at 19:30 hrs on 02.07.21 so do feel free to come along and remember what live music sounds like once again. I managed to experience some last Sunday afternoon in the Haus Carstanjan arboretum summer festival with the Tree Guardians. I must confess, it was very inspiring and most uplifting. This was last Sunday afternoon at the Tree Guardian's annual festival in the arboretum alongside Haus Carstanjen alongside the Rhine in Plittersdorf. Pre-COVID-19 I would have been somewhat sceptical about being able to put on a show like this without access to mains electricity. Thanks to the good offices of John Hay who invested heavily in battery powered amplifiers early on in the COVID-19 crisis, what happened last Sunday was thankfully possible. Thanks for that John Hay and this is also enabling Folk Club Bonn to continue to play and function, and continue to play and function outdoors. This is indeed outside of the Folk Club Bonn's initial remit as a purely acoustic live music indoor folk club. As the economist John Maynard Keynes once said, "When facts change I change my opinions." Now it seems that "out of adversity comes opportunity!" We have been gathering a bit of experience, paying our respective dues, so that Folk Club Bonn, can rise up again. Please come along again on Friday 02.07.21 at 19:30 hrs You will all be glad to know that since COVID-19 "knee-capped" us all in April 2020 we have held three folk club Bonn meetings with full traceability and following all of the restrictions, AND we have not lost a folk clubber yet to COVID-19 and we do not wish to change this record. If you do come along please respect spatial distancing and if you feel happier with a mask, that's fine. If you have underlying health conditions and you are NOT yet fully vaccinated, please for your own health, consider staying away. We consider the risk from aerosol transmission outdoors to be minimal, but do remember that the Delta-4 variant is probably around 200% more infectious that the original COVID-19 virus, and the Delta-4 variant IS growing legs, it's just a metter of time, not if, but simply when. We do not wish any of you any harm but we do wish that you prosper and remember how to smile again, and listen and sing again. "Spatial distancing" IS currently important, but "social distancing" is really not a human condition, it never was and really never will be! So please ALL of you stay safe, and if you can possibly justify it, do come along and enjoy yourselves in a way that human beings have been doing, not just for decades, or centuries or for millenia, after a long week of work, toil or hunt, just get together with family and friends on a Friday evening and chew the cud, reflect on life, have a drink or two, and hear a true story or two or three, hear and sing a few songs, and smile a little more often than you normally do during the rest of the week. After all, this is really what "life" and a "folk club" is quintessentially all about on a Friday night. Welcome back, and please enjoy your newly found freedoms again in a safe environment. Perhaps, we will even begin to appreciate again, those many wonderful things that we never knew that we really ever had, before we began to so recently miss and mourn them.

John Hurd of 3SongsBonn recently dis an interview with Simon Kempston who has been coming to the folk club in Bonn each year in December as a "special guest" for as long as anyone can remember. Except in December 2020 when we could not host him due to COVID-19 lockdown restrictions. By way of compensation we managed to get Simon Kempston a gig in Bad Godesberg in the row of six outdoor live music concerts which will be taking place under the old cedar tree outside of the Kleines Theater in July and August. These concerts have been organised by KuKuG Kunst & Kultur Bad Godesberge e.V. (The Association for Art and Culture in Bad Godesberg) in colaboration with the small theatre in Bad Godesberg. The proceeds from the concerts will be for the benefit of the performers and to help support the theatre.If you ask any professional musicianhow bas 2020 was they will tell you the worst year they can ever remember, apart perhaps from this year in 2021, but that is still a disaster in progress, and although it is already half over, things are indeed beginning to look somewhat rosier. Simon will be heading the bill on Monday evening 02.08.2021 at 19:30 hrs under the heading "Live in Europe from the British Isles" featuring music from the west of the European mainland and to the east of the Azores. Simon who was born and raised in Dundee and now resides in Edinburgh as was a regular touring troubadour and singer/songwriter throughout Europe and the world before COVID-19 struck with a vengence in 2020. Shay McVeigh was born and raised in Belfast in Northern Ireland and certainly knows what "Troubles" are. John Harrison was born and raised in Burton-upon-Trent in England, famous for its five breweries and the five roads leading out of town and now like Shay lives in the beautiful city of Bonn. A song for better togetherness

 Eva Henneken, featured in this local newspaper article, is a regular contributor to Folk Club Bonn since her return to Bonn as a fiddler extraordinaire, following her sojourn in New Zealand. She has been using the lockdown to improve her considerable songwriting skills. I once wrote what I thought was a passable poem about an extraordinary migratory bird known as a swift (Mauersegler) which is now visibly and audibly present in large numbers in the skies over Bonn and Eva has turned it into a wonderful song about swifts. So thank you for that Eva! Just in case you were wondering if Eva had problems with her pedal extremities as can be seen at the bottom of the above photo, I can assure you that she does not. The feet that you can see actually belong to John Hay, which reminds me of an old Fats Waller song:

 Eva Henneken, die in diesem Lokalzeitungsartikel vorgestellt wird, ist eine regelmäßige Musikerin des Folk Club Bonn, seit sie nach ihrem Aufenthalt in Neuseeland als außergewöhnliche Fiddlerin nach Bonn zurückgekehrt ist. Sie hat die Sperre genutzt, um ihre beachtlichen Fähigkeiten im Songwriting zu sogar verbessern. Ich habe einmal ein, wie ich dachte, passables Gedicht über einen außergewöhnlichen Zugvogel geschrieben, der als Mauersegler ( Swift) bekannt ist und der jetzt gut sichtbar und hörbar in großer Zahl am Himmel über Bonn präsent ist, und Eva hat daraus ein wunderbares Lied über Mauersegler gemacht. Also vielen Dank dafür, Eva! Nur für den Fall, dass Sie sich gefragt haben, ob Eva Probleme mit ihren Pedalextremitäten hat, wie unten auf dem obigen Foto zu sehen ist, kann ich Ihnen versichern, dass sie keine hat. Die Füße, die Sie sehen können, gehören tatsächlich zu John Hay, was mich an einen alten Fats Waller-Song erinnert:
